Psychological diagnosis

Psychological diagnosis is a service performed by a psychologist-diagnostician, which aims to determine how the patient functions and what kind of help he needs (psychological support, psychotherapy, psychiatric consultation).

A psychologist-diagnostician can diagnose:

  • personality,

  • intellect,

  • cognitive functions,

  • emotional functioning.

The diagnostic methods used in the psychological diagnosis are: interview, observation and psychological tests. In a psychological diagnosis, the choice of test depends on the area of ​​interest.

  • WAIS-R (PL) (study of the level of intelligence in adults),

  • MMPI-2 (psychological personality test).

What does the psychological diagnosis process include?
A psychological interview, selection and administration of appropriate tests (e.g. intelligence, personality, neuropsychological), analysis of results and preparation of a written psychological opinion.
How long does the diagnostic process take?
Typically 2–4 meetings over 2–4 weeks. The written opinion is ready within 2–3 weeks of the final meeting.
Will I receive a written opinion?
Yes. You will receive a written psychological opinion describing the tests conducted, conclusions and any recommendations. The opinion may be used for official decisions or consultation with other specialists.
When is it worth getting a diagnosis?
When personality disorders, depression, ADHD, anxiety disorders or cognitive difficulties are suspected, and for official decisions, therapy planning or consultation with a psychiatrist.
