Individual psychotherapy for adolescents are meetings with a psychotherapist aimed at providing support to a young person and helping him or her understand his or her own emotions and behavior. Adolescence is a time when a teenager can experience many dynamic changes in biological, mental, social functioning. The developmental task at this stage of life is to define one’s own identity, so there are times when a young person needs outside support.

An important therapeutic factor in child and adolescent psychotherapy is cooperation with parents. Children and adolescents are invited to the first consultation with their parents or legal guardians. For child and adolescent psychotherapy, the consent of both parents is required. A teenager who is 16 years of age or older must agree to participate in consultation and/or psychotherapy.
